Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion at Ryan Swanson
Diversity & Inclusion Statement
Our law firm and the individuals who comprise it choose to advance justice, access to justice, respect, fairness and safety. Our firm promotes diversity, inclusion and civil discourse as a part of our mission and existence. We are enriched by the diversity of our colleagues and clients. We embrace diversity in race, gender, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, and veteran status.
Through our actions and the unique opportunities afforded to us in the legal profession, we strive toward fairness for all built on a foundation of equitable laws and their just application.
For the benefit of ourselves, our clients, and our communities, we commit to practice respect, inclusion, and tolerance, and to foster an environment that is open to talented and qualified individuals of every background. More specifically, we commit:
- To recruit and retain talent from diverse backgrounds.
- To work to dismantle the inequities we can control.
- To celebrate diversity.
- To put these principles into action in our daily work.
Commitment to Our Community
Giving back to the community in which we live and work is an integral part of Ryan Swanson’s culture. Ryan Swanson is dedicated to making our community a better place, made possible through the participation and support of our firm management, attorneys, and other personnel.
Ryan Swanson and its attorneys are active participants and members of a number of organizations promoting diversity, including specialty bar associations and similar organizations.
Recruiting Efforts to Support Inclusion and Diversity within the Firm
The hiring, development, retention and promotion of diverse talent for long-term employment in the firm is a focal point of our firm.
Ryan Swanson has worked with the Gregoire Fellows program, offered by the University of Washington School of Law to help more minority students finish their law degrees and study for the bar exam. We have also participated in the Legal Employers Advancing Diversity in Washington’s (“LEAD-WA”) 1L Diversity Fellowship Program, as well as minority bar job fairs.
Our firm supports the local community in various efforts including charity, safety, diversity, and access to justice.
We financially support organizations which work to advance refugee and immigrant rights, which create safe havens and provide for sustenance of minorities and families dealing with abuse, which provide nutritious food for students lacking access to such at home, and which assist with transitions from homelessness to stable housing, among many other causes.
