Washington has experienced three major employment law developments in 2020 unrelated to COVID: (1) our new Paid Family and Medical Leave Act became fully effective, (2) a new law severely restricts non-competition agreements, and (3) the salary basis for the “white collar” (executive, administrative, and professional) exemptions increased significantly at the federal and state levels.
