Janet Petersen



Janet brings over 20 years of legal experience to the Litigation Group at Ryan Swanson. She researches multiple public document databases for asset searches, corporate and business information, and locator services.  She organizes case documents, with a specific focus on medical records in connection with the firm’s nursing home cases.  Janet also assists attorneys in preparing for deposition, mediation, arbitration, and trial Garnishments.

Janet has knowledge of state and federal court rules and procedures, and has gained extensive experience in litigation and has worked in family law, personal injury, real estate, including real estate closings, commercial real estate transactions, employment law, landlord-tenant law, securities litigation, including Washington State’s largest securities fraud case, class actions, product liability, premises liability, and has corporate experience in the formation of LLC’s.


In Janet’s spare time, she has been involved with the National Association of Legal Secretaries and has volunteered with the Puget Sound Association of Legal Administrators.  She enjoys everything fun and currently serves on the firm’s Motivation and Morale Committee where she volunteers her time to create fantastic events for the firm.  Janet also volunteers her time as a Girl Scout leader to 45 girls and to her church.  She also enjoys attending local sporting events, attending concerts, and is an avid knitter.
