As of March 17, 2020, the United States Embassy and all Consulates General in Canada are cancelling all routine nonimmigrant visa appointments. The Consulate General in Montreal continues to process immigrant visas but depending on staffing capacity and host government restrictions, may need to reduce routine immigrant visa appointments. Applicants should expect cancellation of their upcoming nonimmigrant visa appointments and should plan on rescheduling their interviews. Further, as of 12:01 AM March 18, 2020, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada will restrict international travel, and only allow entry of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. This restriction will not apply to diplomats, air crew and immediate family members of Canadian citizens, as well as U.S. citizens.
