Sophie is an associate at Ryan Swanson, working primarily in the firm’s Immigration Group. She focuses her practice on U.S. immigration matters for both individuals and businesses, assisting clients with temporary work visas, including L-1 intra-company transfers, TN professionals, and O-1 petitions for individuals with extraordinary ability. Sophie also handles employment-based green card applications through PERM labor certification and immigrant petitions, guiding clients through each step of the process with practical, results-oriented advice.
Before joining the firm full time, Sophie served as a summer associate at Ryan Swanson in 2023 while completing her law degree at the University of Washington. During law school, she worked in the Federal Low Income Tax Clinic and traveled to Hooper Bay, Alaska, as part of the Rural Alaskan Tax Program to help Alaska Natives file taxes. She also served on the board of the Women’s Law Caucus, worked as a Hazelton Fellow, and clerked for the Federal Trade Commission’s Northwest regional office, gaining experience in antitrust and consumer protection matters.
Sophie was born and raised in Agoura Hills, California. Before pursuing her law degree, Sophie worked as a tour guide in Europe for five years. She is proud to be a first-generation college and law student, and naturally gravitated to immigration law as the daughter of an immigrant mother. In her free time, Sophie enjoys yoga, indoor cycling, reading, and soaking up as much sun as the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
