Unannounced workplace site visits from DOL, USCIS and other governmental agencies are on the rise under the new administration. Recently, employers have been asked to comply by granting on-the-spot interviews with company leadership, HR management, employees and staff. These visits are expected to be conducted in several industries and it is important to have your employees prepared, including front desk staff, on how to handle a visit by a governmental official.
Our Immigration Group Chair, Janet Cheetham, recently returned from the 2017 American Immigration Lawyers Association Employer Compliance and Worksite Enforcement Conference in Arizona where she received additional insight to better help management teams prepare for a workplace visit, including a sample list of questions.
