Press Release: Ryan Swanson Hires Reinikka, Park, Forthun & Yerigan Funk as Associates

SEATTLE (September 6, 2022) – Seattle-based law firm Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland, PLLC announces Matthew Reinikka, Kyung Sun Park, Marisa Forthun and Alexandra Yerigan Funk have joined the firm as associates.

Reinikka and Park each worked as a summer associate with Ryan Swanson in 2021.

Reinikka received his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law and his B.A. from Davidson College. While in law school, he was the Executive Editor of Lead Articles on the Seattle University Law Review, served as the secretary for the Real Estate Law Association, and was a member of the Entertainment and Sports Law Association. Additionally, he was a Washington State Scholar and earned CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Legal Writing, Skills, and Values; Persuasive Writing and Oral Advocacy; and Evidence. Prior to Ryan Swanson, Matt worked as a legal extern for the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney—Civil Division.

Park received her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Washington. While in law school, she was President of the International Law Society, VP of Communications for the Student Bar Association and served on the Editorial Staff of the Washington Law Review. Park also received a LEAD-WA Fellowship and was a SHK Group Scholarship recipient.

Forthun earned her J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law and her B.A. from Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University. While in law school, she was a Hazelton Fellow for Professor Maureen Howard, participated in the Floyd, Pflueger & Ringer Mock Trial Competition as a 1L, and was a member of the Women’s Law Caucus. Forthun also worked as a legal intern with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office in Phoenix, Arizona, and the Unemployment Law Project in Seattle, Washington.

Yerigan Funk received her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law and her B.A. from Central Washington University. Prior to Ryan Swanson, she was a Term Law Clerk for the Western District of Washington Bankruptcy Court, where she served as the sole law clerk for Judge Marc Barreca of the federal bankruptcy court over a two-year term. Yerigan Funk also previously clerked with the Washington State Attorney General’s Office – Education Division.

Reinikka, Park, Forthun & Yerigan Funk join six other associates who have been hired over the past year as Ryan Swanson continues to grow its legal service areas to meet the needs of clients and changes in the market.
